Advanced Solar PV System Design, Installation, and Maintenance

Duration: 40 Hours

Intermediate to Advanced

Course Overview

  • Participants will be able to:
  • Undertake detailed system sizing (module, inverter, battery, conductor) using actual load and site data.

  • Interpret electrical codes (CEC/NEC) and apply standards in PV design.

  • Design layouts for roof/ground/pole mounting, including documentation.

  • Execute installation and commissioning for grid-tied and off-grid PV systems.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical/mechanical faults for long-term PV performance.

  • Model PV performance, incorporating system losses and de-rating, using tools/software.

  • Apply advanced safety, permitting, and interconnection procedures in real projects.

  • Prepare for professional certifications (NABCEP, advanced installer credentials).

  • Who Can Attend?
  • Practicing or aspiring solar technicians, electricians, and engineers.

  • Professionals seeking advanced NABCEP, CSA, or local credentials.

  • Contractors, designers, EPC firms wanting expert skills in solar PV.

  • O&M specialists and energy consultants.

  • General Skills Developed
  • Enhanced calculation and design for complex solar arrays and battery banks.

  • Utilization of advanced diagnostics, monitoring, and troubleshooting techniques.

  • Code-compliant installation methods and optimization (e.g., rapid shutdown, grounding, labeling, and disconnects).

  • Financial modeling for project economics, ROI, and industry best practices.
